Ellen RyderChief Marketing and Communications Officer at the College of the Holy Cross

Leading the communications efforts at Holy Cross since 2004, Ellen oversees media relations, institutional publications, the website, digital communications, and publication of the quarterly alumni magazine.

She came to Holy Cross after 15 years working in marketing and public relations for publishers in New York City—including 10 years running her own business. Her clients included Harper's Magazine, Scientific American, National Geographic Traveler, the National Book Awards, the Association of American University Presses, as well as individual authors and publishing houses.

She received her B.A. in English literature from Wellesley College and a master's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She has taught in the publishing programs at New York University and Columbia University and is the co-author of a college textbook, The Magazine Publishing Industry, published by Allyn & Bacon. In 2013-14, she participated in the Ignatian Colleagues Program, is a member of Association of Jesuit Colleges and University's Communication Advisory Council.
